Kingdom of Holland (1806-1810)

The Kingdom of Holland was established on June 5, 1806, by Napoleon Bonaparte, with his brother Louis Napoleon as king. The Batavian Republic was transformed into a kingdom to strengthen control over the Netherlands and create a loyal buffer state against England and other enemies of France.

The coinage is characterized by silver and gold coins bearing the likeness of Louis Napoleon.
