Kingdom of the Netherlands (1815-present)
The Kingdom of the Netherlands is a sovereign state with a constitutional monarchy. Since the formation of the Kingdom, the following monarchs have reigned:
- King William I (1815-1840)
- King William II (1840-1849)
- King William III (1849-1890)
- Queen Wilhelmina (1890-1948)
- Queen Juliana (1948-1980)
- Queen Beatrix (1980-2013)
- King Willem-Alexander (2013-present)
The coinage of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is characterized by the decimal system. This system was introduced with the Coinage Act of 1816. From that moment on, the Dutch guilder was divided into 100 cents. The coins in the Kingdom era ranged from a 1/2 cent up to 50 guilders.
